About Our Organization
Downtown Bellingham Business Collective is a collective of local businesses, organizations, and community members committed to enhancing the economic vitality of our downtown area. We are dedicated to a downtown that supports existing businesses while attracting new businesses, organizations, residents, and visitors.
A core part of our mission is to advocate for businesses in order to help foster a vibrant business environment. We believe supporting the interests of conscentious businesses is essential in achieving the broader goals of ensuring a thriving downtown. We use your donations or membership to help fund our initiatives and activities.
Please keep in mind we are just getting started, and still have a ways to go. Look for improvements and more content as we progress.
We have a number of strategies we intend to try to help achieve our goals. Many will be aimed at directly drawing more residents and visitors into the downtown core. Simply put, more foot traffic translates to a more vibrant downtown for all.
One strategy that we are passionate about and believe will greatly enhance downtown, is creating a more people-centric, pedestrian-friendly downtown environment.
Other core ideas, initiatives, and strategies will be outlined in the coming months. We also look forward to getting ideas, input and feedback from our members and the community.
I’m Marc Ravaris, a longtime downtown business owner and resident. I am the director of the Downtown Bellingham Business Collective. I have faced the same challenges that many of you have faced, and continue to share in a post-Covid economic environment.
I feel a stronger, more unified voice representing the downtown Bellingham business community will help us share and overcome these challenges, and to this end I have created the Downtown Bellingham Business Collective.
If you are a downtown Bellingham business, organization, community member, or otherwise have an interest in supporting our efforts to create a more vibrant downtown, then I invite you to become a member.
We we offer a number of different options for membership. We understand that interest and ability to participate may vary and the memberships levels reflect that. We do encourage participation and hope to offer many opportunities for members to do so.
So, if you like the direction we’re going in, want to stay informed, or simply want to help, we encourage you to choose our base membership. You are welcome to become more involved at any time in the future.
A Base Membership entitles the member access to our open forums and member’s events. $50.00 Donation per year.
A Working Member is expected to participate in Member’s meetings, events, and to support the organization’s initiatives. This could be called the more “boots on the ground” membership. $100.00 Donation per year.
Advisory Member – this membership level is limited to a set number of members. The group will form the the Advisory Board, and will have creative input to objectives, projects and initiatives. These members each recieve an advisory vote when projects or initiatives are being proposed and considered. These members will initially be by invitation. $150.00 Donation per year.
Additional donations are welcome.
All membership levels entitles the member to certain perks and benefits available to members only. A member is welcome to participate in events, can opt to recieve emails about news or events, and recieves other perks. All members will have access to marketing, networking, and support materials provided through the Collective. All will have the opportunity to be featured in DBBC publications and will have access to sponsorship opportunities.
While the Collective welcomes and encourages the energy and participation of all members, we understand that finding the time to participate can be difficult. The core member(s) of the organization will work towards the benefit of our members and on the outlined goals so long as we are able to sustain a basic level of operation.
