We want to encourage folks to get out of their cars by creating pedestrian freindly zones that are free of cars. Bellingham has done much to increase infrastructure for bicycles, and we feel equivilant emphasis should given to foot traffic.
Bicycles and pedestrians both benefit from car free areas, and with proper planning, bikes and pedestrians can enjoy the same spaces with equal benefits. Municipalities that have created car-free zones, find them to greatly benefit downtown cores.
